Knauf Insulation Completes Packaging Design Overhaul

02/11/2021

Knauf Insulation North America recently unveiled new packaging to coincide with their bold new branding that launched in 2018. This project was a long road to completion but a valuable journey. The new design is not only an exciting new way to bring the Knauf brand to our customers but to better serve them in the market and on the job with a package that makes picking the right product easier than before.

The project kicked off in early 2019 with analysis, case study, and most importantly - customer input. It was through this customer feedback that Knauf Insulation was able to set appropriate goals to begin building a better design layout and information hierarchy for the packaging.

  • Consistency of product detail placement
  • Highlighting of the Knauf Masterbrand
  • Bringing certifications to the forefront

Through rigorous tweaking, proofing, and adjustment, the internal Knauf team landed on the new design. This was a cross departmental effort, requiring input and coordination from dozens of stakeholders and subject matter experts. Collaboration of this scale is often difficult during ordinary circumstances and yet the Knauf team pulled together during the global pandemic and rose above all of the additional challenges the new working environment presented.

The internal teams had many hurdles along the way, but they continued to push through. Without their dedication and commitment, this design overhaul would not have been possible,” said Katie Bethel, Product Manager for Residential & Light Commercial at Knauf Insulation. “I’d also really like to praise our internal designer [Kiley Lipps] for creating a package that is aesthetically pleasing and considers the concerns of our customers.

Knauf Insulation’s products are sold to a wide range of consumers across various markets, so it was vital that the new design would be an improvement across the board. Improving the visibility of the item reference information and making the Knauf brand more prominent will help with product selection in inventory settings, while cleaning up the layout and improving consistency throughout will help DIY consumers with their purchase journey. The redesign efforts did not stop with residential packaging; nearly every product sold by Knauf Insulation North America was updated and will continue to roll out to customers throughout 2021.

Packaging design is just one area that impacts Knauf’s customer experience. As always, Knauf Insulation will search for ways to continuously improve the lives of their customers, the people who use their products, and The World We Live In.
