Knauf Supports Project 57 to Provide Homes for Homeless Veterans in Indianapolis

05/15/2025

Shelbyville, IN — Knauf Insulation, Inc. (aka Knauf North America), a leading, family-owned North American manufacturer of fiberglass insulation, is proud to announce its support of Steadfast Veterans, a nonprofit founded by veteran Anthony Roberts, to help complete Project 57—an initiative to build homes for homeless veterans in the Indianapolis area.

There are an estimated 37,000 homeless veterans in the United States at any given time. In Indianapolis, 57 veterans hold HUD-VASH vouchers but are unable to find housing due to a lack of available units. That gap inspired Roberts and his family to take action. Over the past few years, they have personally funded and built 18 homes as part of Project 57.

The homes are designed to be a 520 square foot one-bedroom home complete with a full-size kitchen and bathroom. The homes are a part of a planned community on the Indianapolis west-side, which will include two additional apartment style housing units, a common space in the same building for those in the community, and shuttle services to and from the Roudebush VA Medical Center. With Knauf’s support, the project is now in its final stages. Knauf has donated insulation materials and volunteered their time on May 13 to help install the insulation.

“After doing more research, I realized the benefits Knauf Insulation products provide for the veterans who will live in these homes,” said Tony Roberts, Founder of Steadfast Veterans. “The positive impacts physically, mentally, and environmentally for the veterans who will be in these homes is something that I’ve kept as the highest priority throughout the build process.”

By donating materials and volunteer support, Knauf is equipping these homes with high-quality insulation to ensure comfort, energy efficiency, and healthy indoor environments for veterans who need it. This effort is part of Knauf's commitment to creating sustainable, positive impacts in the communities where it operates.

“At Knauf, we believe in building more than just homes—we believe in building communities. Supporting our homeless veterans, who have given so much for our country, is a cause that deeply resonates with us,” said Fabio Staffolani, VP Sales, Residential and Light Commercial, Knauf North America. “We’re incredibly grateful to Anthony Roberts and his family for their unwavering dedication to supporting our nation’s heroes and are honored to play a part in fulfilling the Roberts’ mission.” Steadfast Veterans reaches beyond Indianapolis, with plans to expand into five states over the next five years and ultimately scale the program to serve veterans nationwide within the next decade.

About Steadfast Veterans

Steadfast Veterans was founded in 2016 to address the lack of housing for 57 homeless Veterans in Indianapolis. Through Project 57, the organization has raised awareness, secured funding, and identified properties to build safe, dignified communities for Veterans. In January 2022, construction for Project 57 began and is near completion. The organization’s mission is to provide housing for homeless Veterans in five states within five years and expand nationwide within ten. Beyond shelter, they offer a space for holistic healing—spiritually, mentally, and physically—helping Veterans rediscover their strength and purpose.
