1.

Locate the tools used for fiberglass pipe covering:

  • Tape measure
  • Boning Knife
  • Aviation Snips or Scissors and Squeegee

Put on recommended personal protective equipment:

  • Gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Dust mask

2.

Identify the total outside diameter of the fiberglass pipe covering using a tape measure.

3.

Highlight or trace out half of the total outside diameter of the insulation on the stencil.

4.

Cut out the highlighted or traced quarter pattern from the stencil graph.

5.

Place the quarter pattern on both sides of half of the pipe covering and highlight or trace it on both halves. This will give you a guide on what will be cut off the pipe covering.

6.

Cut out the high and low points of the Tee quarter patterns to form your bonnet portion of the T transition.

7.

Shave or cope out the access insulation to form a tight-fitting transition. (Note: a sharp or very fine serrated knife should be used for this technique.)

8.

Tee is ready for installation.
