First Panels Rise at Knauf Insulation Production Facility as Construction Continues in McGregor

Central Texas plant will soon employ more than 150 Texans

McGregor, TX — The Knauf Group, a family-owned building materials company, celebrated the first of many massive concrete panels rising into place at its new 600,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility in the McGregor, Texas Industrial Park on March 20, 2023. Construction continues on-pace to have the facility open and fully functional in early 2024. This site, Knauf’s seventh manufacturing facility in the United States, will produce 500 million square feet of insulation annually, enough to insulate 125,000 homes a year.

"This construction site is being watched by Knauf team members around the world, and we believe when its doors open next year, it will be one of the finest and most productive facilities of its kind, globally."

Since the inception of this project, Knauf officials have worked to partner with the City of McGregor, McGregor Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce, McGregor Independent School District as well as partners and community members across McLennan County. Knauf has already hired key management positions to oversee the initial activity and will soon announce the hiring process for the remaining nearly 150 positions to be hired locally. The construction project has also created numerous jobs for skilled trades as well as opportunities for local businesses and service providers.
