Install Fiberglass Insulation at the Proper Thickness to Achieve the Desired R-Value
The insulation's resistance to conductive heat flow is measured by its thermal resistance — R-value. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating effectiveness. For residential projects, contractors, professional remodelers and do-it-yourselfers should carefully follow directions on the insulation packaging to achieve the expected R-value. Avoid compressing the insulation less than the labelled thickness on the package when it is installed. Compressing it will reduce the thermal performance of the material.
