Insulate rooms over garages: The floor of a room built over a garage requires a complete thermal boundary — meaning insulation needs to be installed so it’s in contact with the subfloor of the room and not the garage.
Seal around floor joists: Air leakage can occur in areas where the floor joists sit on walls. Air sealing the rim joists can help improve the performance of your insulation.
